Support Sheriff Phil Plummer

Recently, a series of articles have appeared in the local newspaper unfairly criticizing our Sheriff. The half truths and innuendo are not worth repeating. In fact, none of the television media outlets in our community have reported on this story. The reason you may not be aware of the attacks on the Sheriff is because there is no story. Sheriff Plummer is performing his duties in an honest and ethical manner – - that’s the real story.

Our initial reaction was to call a news conference and respond to the newspaper; however, we decided that to perpetuate the misleading information did not best serve our community.

The Montgomery County Republican Party will continue to support our elected officials and hold the media accountable. We are currently engaged in a fact finding mission for the benefit of our candidates and leaders as a result of the recent articles. Stay tuned.

If you are as frustrated as I am with how our elected Republican leaders are treated in the media, please join us in the fight. We need volunteers to help campaign and get our message out. Come to our upcoming Lincoln/Reagan dinner and submit your contact information to volunteer.

Phil Plummer is serving our community and doing an excellent job as Sheriff. He is doing this at a time when our County Commission is repeatedly cutting his budget. Sheriff Plummer and his Deputies are working 24 – 7 to protect our community and keep us safe. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is a full-service law enforcement agency with more than 466 employees and an annual budget exceeding thirty-six million dollars.

I am proud that the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office holds national accreditation from the <http://www.calea.org/> Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, <http://www.ncchc.org/> National Commission on Correctional Health Care and the Commission on Accreditation for Corrections.

Phil Plummer was elected Sheriff of Montgomery County in November, 2008. His career began when he joined the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office in 1988 as a corrections officer assigned to the Jail Division. He was later promoted to the position of deputy sheriff where he worked as a patrol deputy. Upon his promotion to the rank of Sergeant, he held assignments as a supervisor in the Communication Center, and the Road Patrol section, and as the SWAT Team leader.

In November of 2000, he was promoted to the rank of Major and assumed Command of the Operations Division. In January 2004, he was placed in charge of the Personnel Office where he was responsible of human resources and labor relations and in March 2005 he was promoted to the rank of Chief Deputy (Second in Command.) Phil has dedicated his professional life to serving the residents of Montgomery County.

Sheriff Plummer is a native of Montgomery County. He graduated from Chaminade-Julienne High School, and earned an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Toledo and a Bachelor of Science in Management (Business) from the University of Phoenix. In 2003 he graduated from the FBI National Academy.

If you read articles or blogs that negatively and unfairly attack our Sheriff or other Republicans, write a letter to the editor and voice your opinion or comment on the blog to show your support for our Republican team.

Thank you,
